SOMETIMES
I am convinced that political leaders take positions that are morally reprehensible because they mistakenly believe in a ‘real-politik’ approach that gives an overall design of ‘success’ or ‘growth’ or ‘stability’ rather than a humanistic approach that promotes fairness, sustainability, or justice.  How do we teach them that they are wrong?

  1. Wish I knew! The last Community Commons meeting (Homelessness) illustrated this so clearly. The NIMBY attitudes from our elected officials and some of the churches combined with the "oh the insurance is way too much to provide shelter for homeless people" blew my mind! The only good news is that I have heard outrage from some people.

  2. A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
The things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second. -John Steinbeck, novelist, Nobel laureate (1902-1968)
